iPhone Fun
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on August 30th, 2007
I’m one of those people that started hacking my iPhone as soon as the information was posted on the internet. It’s getting easier and easier for people to open up the iphone and add some kewl applications and then geek out. Yes, geek out… I attached a screen shot of my phone’s home screen, see below. It’s nothing special, but it’s not stock. Just like cars that are stock right out of the factory, stock cell phones suck.

What’s New?
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on August 20th, 2007
Well, it’s been a while sense I last posted any thing. It’s not because I haven’t been busy, I’ve definitly been busy. For the last four weeks I’ve been working as a new software developer and have been learning a lot. I almost feel like my head is going to explode with all the new information I’ve been taking in. Either way, I’m definitly liking the new position.
The weekends have been busy too. The wife and I went to Calistoga for a friends wedding and we stayed at the Chanric Inn. The Chanric Inn was the bomb. It was definitely worth the money. We had a top notch breakfast each morning, a great room, and a peaceful atmospher. The following weekend we went to Monterey Bay for Lauren’s 25th birthday. The next weekend we went to a family reunion in Oakdale. It was nice to see all my third and fourth cousins I have not seen in more than 20 year. Wait! I don’t remember half of them. I also played a round of golf at Anchol Hoffman with Scanlon. Now that was a good day. I only shoot a 102, but Scanlon was on fire, hitting a 81. We actually played at Woodcreek a few weekend earlier and I hit a 98.
Anyway, I’ve also been playing with my iPhone and have opened ssh and started installing third party applications. The NES emulator is pretty kewl, but the iPhone installer application has to be the best app so far. It’s not the installer that’s kewl, it’s the fact that I can now install applications live on the phone. The installer app allows you to download a new or updated application and then it installs it for you. It’s nice because all the third party apps are being updated days and sometimes hourly. The installer app allows me to keep my apps up-to-date. I’ll post more about it later.
Anyway, I need to get to bed, I have another escalation to work on tomorrow and I have to get up at 5 am to continue my workout regiment. I’ll again post soon.
God Bless America

I must say, I truly enjoy the 4th of July. What better way to celebrate the indepentence day of the USA with a great BBQ with friends and family. Thank you Matt and Abby for throwing a great celebration. And thank you Karlos for putting on a great fireworks display. I’m not sure if I had one too many Sierra Nevada’s or if I just had a great time, probably both. Either way, happy 4th of July to all.

iPhone, it’s pretty kewl…
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly, Techy Stuff on June 30th, 2007
Yep, the count down came to zero and I waited in line for an hour and a half to finally purchase a 8GB iPhone. After driving a 30 minute drive home, I spent the next 6 hours playing and configuring until I couldn’t stay awake anymore. This thing is pretty kewl. The phone quality is pretty good, all the functionality of a normal phone are easy to use. One down fall is that I have not found a way to set one of my songs as a ring tone. I can only use the default ringers, which I personally dislike. The WiFi is kewl and using Safari is great. I’ve noticed that when playing some QuickTime movies from Apple.com, the browser will crash and send me back to the main menu. That kind of sucks… The iPod portion of the gadget it the same, duh, it plays music.
Anyway, I’m going to go play some more. And to explain the picture. One of my colleagues wrote a nice little rant about the Apple employees getting a free iPod (life long the Cubelodyte). I kind of feel the same way, but oh well, I’m not an Apple employ anymore, but I still enjoy the toys they create.
Congratulations to me…

In the next few weeks, I will be starting a new position at work. I applied for a Software Development Engineer position about 4+ weeks ago and after six interviews and a few weeks of waiting, I was offered the position. Of course, I accepted. So, good-bye Technical Support and hello development. I guess instead of reporting bugs, I will be either fixing them or creating new ones… Hehehe…
The next 2-3 weeks I will be off loading and downloading all my current knowledge and distributing my tasks to the Basis Team at work. There are a few things I still want to complete before I leave Technical Support. I have to make sure I will be remembered as a legend. Let the fun begin…
Oh yea, my company announced that we will be moving to a new office location by the end of the year, probably in November. We are moving from Folsom to Rancho Cordova. This takes about 10 minutes off of my commute, so it’s some what of a bonus for me. Plus, moving to a new office or build can be a nice change. Only time will tell…
Wow! It’s been a long time…
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on June 6th, 2007
Yep, it’s been a long time since I’ve added anything to my blog… Actually, it’s been just over a year since I last posted anything… Wow!
Well, I think I was a little pissed after the big Manage.com issue. I had about a month of down time on all my domains and then my largest site, NissanMinis.com, it was down for 5+ months because I couldn’t find the courage or strength to rebuilt the entire site. I guess I can say that it was one of those life lessons, “learn to backup stuff”. But, hell… How backs up there computer or better yet web hosting site all the time… Well, the answer is me now… I lived and learned.
Enough with the old sad story of my life lesson.
So what’s new with me… Since it’s been a year, a ton of stuff. The old lady and I just got back from our one year anniversary. We went on a 10-day cruise to Mexico and had a blast. Jenn even bought me a new set of golf clubs for my anniversary pressent, a full set of Callaway Big Bertha irons (5-9,A,P, and S), plus a Callaway X-20 Hybrid 4 Driver, and a King Cobra LD Speed W driver. I’ll post pictures later… There’s a bunch of other stuff, but I’ll post that stuff later…
Life’s good…
Kindra’s Birthday Brew
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on April 15th, 2006
It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been busy at work and a playing on the weekends. I just completed another beer label for the last brew we made a Brew It Up. It’s called Kindra’s Birthday Brew and yet, it’s an Oatmeal Stout, my favorite. And yes, we celebrated Kindra’s birthday. This label was a little different because Dusty was not the center of attention, but I still was able to place here mug on the label.
What a Weekend!!!

The ole lady went to Lost Wages this weekend for her bachelorette party and I was left at home, all alone. While Jenn was out partying with the fab-four and some other friends, I took full advantage of getting out of the house and did some partying of my own. It started on Thursday and was three nights of drunkiness.
Thursday: Immediately after work, I picked up Myers and we met the brothers at Brew It Up in downtown Sac. It seems like I was just there less than a week ago. Oh yes, I remember now. I was there last week bottling my last batch of brew on Friday, just 6 days earlier. Time to start a new brew. Anyway, we decided on concocting a brew called Ladder #2, which is a lager with a smooth rich flavor. All the gents in our party were Pike brothers. Karlos, RT, Huber, Sample, Hess, and of course Myers all showed up. Lovelace was a no-show (what happened?). For our labels, we’ll end up making some Theta Tau 25 Year Reunion labels. I plan on donating one of the cases as a raffle for the reunion party… To bad I can’t make it to the event, I’ll me on my honeymoon cruise.
We did a full mash, which took about 3+ hours, so we ran through quite a few glasses of beer. I had 2 Oatmeal Stouts, 1 Smoked Porter, and 3 Ladder #2′s. I ordered a round of Kamikazes, but I have to say that the real bartender must have been on break or something because they tasted like squirt. Oh yea, cheers to Amanda, our waitress. She was going to Vegas the next day and had a few drinks with us. To add to the mix, we had a party of asain persuasion ladies next to us and they had some hotties in their party too. Definitely nice eye candy. Katie, Abby, and Ashley showed up to hang. More eye candy…
Friday: After work, Myers and I went over to Tokyo Fro’s for some good ole sashimi and sushi rolls. This was the first time for me going to Tokyo Fro’s, but I’m no stranger to sushi. Earlier that day, I went to Taiko Sushi in Folsom with Dahlinger and Kelly (from work). Dahlinger and I usually go at least once a week, maybe even twice a week. Anyway, Tokyo Fro’s was poppin’ and rockin’, just like they advertise. Most of the waitresses were rockin’ too, if you know what I mean…
After we had our fill of Albacore and Sake, Myers and I headed over to Sample’s and Huber’s pad and waited for the rest of the posse to gather. Once Eli got up from his beauty sleep and Abby arrived, we all headed out to Country Club lanes. Dusty and Megan met us at the bar and then we were ready to bowl. I haven’t bowled in a few years and it definitely showed. No worries though, I got my game back after I had a few Sierra Nevada’s. Huber pulled away with the “W” for the night, but the true battle was between Abby and I. It was a neck and neck battle for about 6 sets, but she finally took home the honor of beating me by one point, 114 to 113. I’m just glad I broke 100.
Saturday: The entire day on Saturday I did absolutely nothing. I haven’t done that in a long time. I finally was able to watch King Kong all the way through and I also watched Memoirs of a Geisha. Kong was okay, but Memoirs was the better of the two. Anyway, I met Myers at his crib and I brought along some Oatmeal Stout and Nutty Brown Ale that I brewed up from the previous two times I was at Brew It Up. We downed two bottles and met Sample, Huber, Abby, and Sarah at Mikuni’s downtown for some sushi. There was an hour and a half wait, so we posted up at the bar and had a Red Bull and Vodka and then a few beers. Myers was admiring the eye candy by the bar, not to say that I wasn’t. We were seated and Sample and Huber had to do some Saki Bombs. Myers and I just drank our Saki shots straight. We had a salmon and albacore sashimi plate, bbq albacore, rainbow trout and peppers, and three other rolls. The albacore sashimi and rainbow trout were the bomb…
Once we finished dinner, Sarah had to leave, but we met up with Karlos and Katie at the 2 Grand Saloon in Old Sac. There was no cover charge, which was kewl. The DJ was mixing it up with beats from the past, earily nineties and the some current stuff. Ashley met us at the bar and we had a few shots and drinks to go around. I don’t think I’ve drank more Budweiser in one night, since I was in college. We drank some more and danced. Karlos was taking pictures (I think with Abby’s camera), so they have evidence of me getting wicked on the dance floor. They’ll have to send me the pictures so I can post them. We left the club and the girls wanted to take a picture of them riding the Elephant (see picture to the right). Socal’s Tavern was our next stop. We played some shuffle board and Ashley and I wamped on Karlos and Myers. Well, Ashley was the true hero. She scored the winning points to defeat Myers in the final round. Way to go girl (my Ashley Simpson)…
All in all, the weekend was a blast. I think I burnt about $300+ this weekend. I have nothing to show for it, but some great memories and a stupid shirt. Oh wait, I didn’t even get a shirt. Either way, it was all worth it.
We Got Our Tickets
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on March 25th, 2006
I purchased Jenn’s and my tickets for the West Coast Brew Festival this morning. One ticket for me, I’ll be the taster, and one ticket for Jenn, she’ll be the designated driver. If you plan on going, you better purchase your ticket(s) ASAP, else you will be sitting in a long line while Jenn and I will be inside drinking all the beer. Below is a list of current breweries that will be attending:
Another Dusty Brew
Posted by Jeff Morris in My Thoughts Exactly on March 23rd, 2006
Three weeks ago, some friends from work and I all went down to Brew It Up in downtown Sacramento and brewed up a batch of beer. We created a Nutty Brown beer this time. This has been the fourth batch I’ve brewed in the last 6 months. The other times we swiped up some Oatmeal Stout, Irish Amber, and a Scotch Ale; all were scrum-diddly-o-shush. I’m not sure what it is about brewing beer, but it’s been a blast and I’ve been having fun. I’m actually going to start another batch next Thursday with some Pike brothers. This will of course be my fifth batch. Anyway, each time we go, I end up creating a label for our brew. I’ve started a theme, which all center around my dog. The picture to the left is the last one I created. You should check out the other labels I created in my photo gallery section. I do have to give a shot out to Chuck for creating the iRish Amber label. No one liked the one I created… Hehehe… Well, I’ll be bottling our previous batch of brew tomorrow (friday). I’ll drink a few extras for everyone that can’t make it. Hey, Brew It Up’s policy is that they will guarantee me that we will go home with 72 full 22oz bottles. If we sample a little too much and don’t fill all the bottles, we get to replace the empties with off the shelf bottles. So maybe I’ll drink a little more than a few and a few more than a little.
